Makassar was born from a desire to explore the weavings whether they are from here or elsewhere, to create a line of original bags made for women who are both anchored in active life and travelers at heart, sensitive to the authentic and precious character of a hand-woven fabric, and to a careful finish.
The origine
Like any venture, Makassar was born of a desire. The desire to create and combine curiosity with the world of travel. Shared between the tip of Africa : Tangier and the heart of Europe, to create a dialogue between the best of these two worlds: African passion, an ode to raw materials, tempered by balanced lines and meticulous finishes. Originally, the collections were born of a blend of beautiful materials: leather, suede, skins, and an admiration for the craftsmanship of weavers around the world.
A passion for fabrics
From this journey started in 2016, there remains an intact passion for exploring fabrics and textures and playing with them.
Natural fibers
Finding natural materials such as jute canvas, here interpreted and worked with dark cotton - in search of the right balance between originality, elegance and purity of line.

It was in a corner of the workshop that I came across this innovative material made from woven polyester fibers covered with a layer of pvc. Unparalleled in lightness and strength, this fiber offers real hold - without sacrificing elegance.
